Dec 9, 2007: With demolition of 4 public housing projects by HUD about to begin, former St. Bernard residents and their supporters marched from the fenced-in project to Mayor Ray Nagin's house to protest the government's plan. Katina Pjyles, a former resident of St. Bernard, wants her home to be restored at the project. She lived there with her 5 children and 2 grandchildren. Residents still hold leases on the apartments.

Duncan Plaza across from City Hall is where hundreds of New Orleans residents are staying in tents. A deadline of Dec 21 looms when the State of Louisiana threatens to remove the tents and the people living in them. It is estimated that 12,000 homeless people are curriently living in the city.
Dec. 10: 100 protestesters were in City Hall as a commission on the historical district voted to demolish projects CJ Peete and BW Cooper. The Lafitte Public Housing project was spared. These commissioners voted to demolish.
