On Feb 15, 2003 The world said no to war in over 600 demonstrations around the world. Many millions marched in the cities of Europe. In New York City United for Peace and Justice brought together hundreds of thousands of people to a peace rally on First Avenue near the United Nations. Police prevented thousands of people from reaching the main protest rally. Prior to the Rally the city denied a permit to march.

 
Cities for Peace: Over 90 cities and counties have passed resolutions against the war.
