Sat. Aug 26, Hands Around the Superdome, sponsored by African American Leadership, brought out hundreds of Survivors in spite of a downpour.
Musicians were always on hand for commemorative events.
Welcome Back
Survivors of the Superdome link hands around the arena and remember what happened there.
renew orleans is a popular slogan for t-shirts.
Forget Iraq, rebuild at home.
This is the rain that struck when I was 2 blocks from the Superdome, causing me to miss most to the event.
The Children's Village of Healing was moved inside to the City Council Chambers.

Kids hope to get on TV at the Youth Stop the Violence March. I heard many say that they were looking for Spike Lee.
Youth Stop the Violence march. New Orleans has seen a resurgence of crime and shootings. This march is headed for Center City where 5 teens were killed in one incident.
Bishop Diana Williams, a hurricane survivor on the Hear Me Now tour at the Holy Temple Faith Baptist Church in Treme, New Orleans. The tour went through the Gulf Coast and was sponsored by the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation

Marc Morial, former Mayor of New Orleans, addressed the Hear Me Now event. I saw him earlier at Hands Around the Superdome.
Antoine's, a famous New Orleans restaurant in the French Quarter held a street fair and served free jambalaya and red beans and rice.
Antoines provided a band.
Rhythm and Roots was a musical happening at Congo Square on Sunday
Another brass band
Men danced and had a great time at Congo Square. This is the type of event that we all go to Nawlins for.
