May 1, 2005 United for Peace and Justice and Abolition Now spearheaded a march from the United National to Central Park where a rally called for No Nukes and No War in Iraq. One Thousand people traveled from Japan, including 35 Hibakusha for the event. Hibakusha are surviviors of the nuclear bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Hundreds of Mayors from the world's cities were also present. |
