Architect Sanjay Puri doesn’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to design. Each site, each location, each space, each surrounding natural element has its say in the final design. What Puri wants to do is listen carefully to what they suggest and then come back to the drawing board with those ideas.

Architect AD100 features in the second episode of The Artboard, a one-of-a-kind video series by Artize, created in collaboration with Architectural Digest India.

The Work Plan by Artize: Sanjay Puri

The design philosophy of Sanjay Puri

For Puri, context matters a lot. “What you’re trying to do is keep the context, keep it clean, solve designs where people experience something new every time,” he shares. Its process is not entirely based on the latest software or technology, but on tried and true traditional methods.

“I spend every morning in my cubicle alone designing, and all of my designing is done in sketch form, because I don’t think there’s any software that’s as quick or fast as translating what you think into your forward simultaneously on paper as a simple sketch.

The power of good design is something Puri recognizes. “Good design affects people positively,” he says. According to him, the quality of space matters, as does the quality of light and ventilation. “Getting natural light is actually good for the way you think and the way you feel.”

Inspired by the power of great design, which has the potential to positively affect people, Tiaara by Artize is a bold expression of sculptural fine art. Its innovative and dynamic design, where a slight lateral movement of the spout makes the water spurt out, is appreciated by design connoisseurs.
