The final half of the 2021-22 concert series sponsored by ArtsLink kicks off with the annual Valentine’s Day show on Saturday February 12 at the Gold Derrick Gallery on Wells Street in Sistersville.
The evening entertainment will feature the Jenny Wilson Jazz Duo. Scarlet Hood, President of ArtsLink, comments: “We have featured Jenny Wilson in the past and are thrilled to have her performing for us again. All accompanied by festive delicacies promises a great evening.
The Jenny Wilson Duo is a jazz band that focuses on original music as well as select classical and contemporary standards. Jenny Wilson is a composer, pianist, flautist and singer. Originally from Queens, New York, Jenny is a graduate of WVU’s Master of Music Jazz Pedagogy program and has toured Switzerland, Austria and Germany. She is active in the West Virginia Jazz Society as a performer and clinician. Her vocal style is influenced by Shirley Horn and Diana Krall, discreet but swinging. Bassist Nathan Wilson is Jenny’s husband and also works with Squonk Opera in Pittsburgh, PA. He is particularly sensitive to the melodic style of playing that brings the music that gives the band its unique sound.
Sponsored by JC Mensore Distributor, the 7:00 p.m. concert will also include an assortment of homemade desserts contributed by ArtsLink members, local bakers and fine restaurants.
Jenny Wilson will offer a casual chat before the show beginning at 6:30 p.m., providing the audience with a “up close and personal” experience with musicians. In addition to a jazz music performance, Jenny’s works will be on display in the gallery. Terry Wiley, owner of the Gold Derrick Gallery, notes, “His art presents itself with a captivating yet ethereal quality that elicits poetic thoughts from the viewer.”
