NIAGARA, Wis. – The Friends of Niagara Public Library will be sponsoring bestselling author and Niagara native Andrew Graff for a discussion on his debut novel, “Raft of Stars” tuesday.
In the novel, the lives of two 10-year-old boys are forever changed one summer night in Wisconsin. Tired of seeing his best friend Dale Breadwin (Bread) abused by his alcoholic father, Fischer Branson (Fish), springs into action. A shot rings out and Bread and Fish flee into the woods. They build a raft, but the river quickly leads them into even greater danger than the law would.
Graff grew up fishing, hiking and hunting in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. After a period of service in Afghanistan, he earned an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. He now lives in Ohio and teaches at the University of Wittenberg.
The program will begin at 6 p.m. at the Library, 1029 Roosevelt Road, Niagara. Light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public of all ages.
