Centers for moving forward and building a better post-pandemic world


Following last year’s success, the BODW 2021 summit from December 1-4 will be held as a hybrid program broadcast simultaneously online, with selected sessions broadcast on ViuTV, social media and partner sites. The organized program will explore eight main pillars of topics relevant to our society today, namely Brand rejuvenation, connected health and well-being, Creative spirit and leadership in innovation, Culture & the city, Designing a smart future, Hospitality with a purpose, New urban models, and Phygital reality.

With the UK and ViuTV as strategic partners, BODW 2021: Global Design Reset aims to highlight how we can thrive in times of crisis, co-create a sustainable future and make a meaningful impact through design and development. human-centered technology.

Among the panel sessions that were broadcast live, the ones that should be broadcast live on ViuTV Channel 96 are:

  • Keynote: How design is changing the world (December 1, 8:20 p.m.8:40 p.m.) – Quality of life and respect for nature are complementary objectives. Constructed projects that convey urban prosperity, sustainability and human well-being can meet the growing challenges of urbanization. Here, the world famous design guru Bruce mau (CEO, Massive Change Network and Founder, Bruce Mau Design, USA), explains how designing for nature is synonymous with designing for success, with Dr. Joseph wong (Executive Director, Hong Kong Design Center, HK) and Darren chuckry (HK President of Marketing Society and Managing Partner of HK Initiative, HK) to moderate.
  • Media disruption (December 1, 8:40 p.m.9:20 p.m.) – Moderated by Julia clyne (Head of Media Sales & The Trust, APAC, at Dow Jones, HK), this discussion brings together media heavyweights, James chambers (Asia Editor-in-Chief and Hong Kong Bureau Chief, Monocle, HK), Lofai Lo (Managing Director and Managing Director, ViuTV, HK), and Michael Lamunière (President and CEO, Tatler Asia Group, HK), to share ideas on creative programming and the future of print, digital and audiovisual media.
  • Future Mobility & Transportation (December 1, 9:20 p.m.10:00 p.m.) – With the advent of AI and IoT, we live in a world where seamless connectivity and autonomous navigation are quickly becoming a reality. This panel brings together Paul Priest (designer and chairman, PriestmanGoode, UK), Andrew Mead (Chief Architect, MTR Corporation Limited, HK), and Edouard Bell (Managing Director of Brand, Information and Marketing Communications, Cathay Pacific Airways, HK) to discuss how design and integrated technologies are shaping the future of mobility and the economy, with Annouchka Behrmann (Brand Manager, Edelman Hong Kong and President, PRHK) to moderate.
  • Sustainable hospitality: making sustainability acceptable (December 2, 20:008:35 p.m.) – With sustainable food systems gaining ground in Asia and across the world, top restaurateurs are eager to make their mark in this space and help reverse climate change. Peggy chan (Chief Consultant of Grassroots Initiatives and Executive Director of Zero Foodprint Asia, HK) and Richard Ekkebus (Director of Food and Restaurant Operations, The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, HK) talks about advancing the new standard in hospitality with a well-respected food writer and moderator Janice Leung Hayes (Food Writer, Producer and Sustainability Advocate, Honestly Green, HK).
  • Keynote: Rewilding Urban Space (December 2, 9:05 p.m.9:25 p.m.) – Cities and companies alike are increasingly aware of the desire of residents to access green spaces. Main speaker Thomas Heatherwick CBE (Founder, Heatherwick Studio, UK) discusses future trends in urban models with moderator Prof. Eric Schuldenfrei (Founding partner, ESKYIU and head of the architecture department, The Hong Kong University, HK).
  • Creation of creative places around the world (December 2, 9:25 a.m.afternoon10:00 p.m.) – Moderated by Alexandra Seno (Founding Partner, AXS Asia Partners, HK), this panel looks at cultural strategies and initiatives specifically designed to improve the built environment and create more vibrant and inclusive spaces, as well as Robert greenwood (partner and general manager Asia, Snøhetta, HK) and Zhu Pei (Dean, professor of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture and founder of Studio Zhu-Pei, Mainland China).
  • Talk to Refik Anadol: Mastering the Art of Crypto Creation (December 3, 3:30 p.m.4:00 p.m.) – Discover emerging trends to watch in the fine art world, such as crypto assets and digital art, with Sara mao (director of Christie’s Education Asia Pacific, vice president and auctioneer at Christie’s, HK) and Refik Anadol (Director and Media Artist at RAS.Refik Anadol Studio, US) in a discussion moderated by Jehan chu (Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Kenetic, HK).
  • Unlocking Potential in Metaverse (December 3, 20:009:00 p.m.) – The border between the physical and the digital is rapidly blurring. In this panel, Bernt johannessen (Industry Director, Epic Games, Sweden), Henri arslanian (Crypto Manager & Partner, PwC Hong Kong, HK) and Yat Siu (Co-Founder and President, Animoca Brands, HK) discuss the merging of these two worlds in the Metaverse and how this influences our lived experiences and economic activities, with the moderator Darren chuckry (HK President of Marketing Society and Managing Partner of HK Initiative, HK).
  • Carving Out Future WorkSpace and Living (December 4, 20:008:55 p.m.) – Offices and built environments are rapidly adapting to our working habits and redefining the nature of work with a new digital infrastructure. Moderator Dr. Edmond Lee (Former Executive Director, Hong Kong Design Center, HK) explores the future of work and life with Teacher. Jeremy Myerson (Director of WORKTECH Academy, United Kingdom), Jesper Jos Olsson (Group CEO and Founding Partner, White Peak & Stey, Mainland China), Ryan anderson (VP of Global Research and Insights, MillerKnoll, USA), and Tiffany Lau (Executive Director, APAC Head of Urban Ecosystems, JLL, HK).

Attracting a global audience of over 380,000 people to exchange ideas and explore new business opportunities last year, BODW 2021 is accompanied by a series of concurrent events across the city with partners and collaborators. They include deTour (November 26 to December 12), BODW CityProg (November 27 to December 5), Fashion Asia Hong Kong (November 30 to December 7), DFA Awards, DesignInspire, Business of IP Asia Forum (December 2 – 3), Congress of the International Association of Societies of Design Research (IASDR) (December 5 – 9) and Guangzhou Design Week (December 9 – 12), etc. that of Hong Kong status as an international hub of design excellence.
