QUINCY — The Kroc Center has teamed up with local photographer Julie Ginos of GS Photography to offer a four-week photography course from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday evenings from September 6 to September 27.
“In the past, our photography classes have been among our most popular offerings,” Education and Fine Arts Specialist Jonathon Weller said in a press release. “I am delighted that we are able to bring these courses back. I’m also glad we’re able to use local talent to make this class happen. Julie is a well-known photographer in the Quincy area, and I’m thrilled to have her share her abilities with those who enroll in this course.
Whether participants have a new high-end camera, a camera they’ve had for a long time that’s gathering dust on a shelf, or even a smartphone camera, this course will help them improve their photography skills.
Weekly topics for this course include:
- Week 1: You and Your Gear – Attendees will get to know their cameras, lenses and other gear and discuss what works best for their lenses.
- Week 2: Capturing the Image – Participants learn how to take photos, including camera settings and composition components.
- Week 3: See the light – Whether artificial or natural, using the lighting or available light source correctly can make or break an image. Participants will learn to see light and how to make the most of a given lighting situation.
- Week 4: Photographing people and telling stories – Photographs tell stories. This week participants will learn how to photograph people – poses, camera angles, etc. – and work on how to photograph to tell their story.
