NEGAUNEE, MI – Melinda S. Thill, 37, of Negaunee, died Monday, October 24, 2022 at UP Health System – Marquette, due to complications from an illness.
Melinda was born on February 1, 1985 in Marquette to Patrick and Susan (Summerlee) Thill.
She graduated in 2003 from Marquette Senior High School, then attended Northern Michigan University, where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Melinda worked at the Meister greenhouse in Harvey, as well as at Wendy’s. More recently, she has followed her creative passions as a freelance silver jewelry artist where she has sold her jewelry at many local craft shows and a local art gallery.
Melinda was a kind and beautiful person with a smile that could brighten your day. She loved the outdoors, camping, cooking, gardening and music festivals. She was very good at making ceramics and reusing and making silver jewelry. Melinda also loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her son, Mikko.
Melinda is survived by her son, Mikko Lantto of Marquette; mother, Sue (Mike) Magel of Marquette; father, patrick “Tap” Thill of Ishpeming; sister, Keri Thill of Marquette; half-sisters, Micaela Magel and Mackenzie Bailey, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of Melinda’s life will be held on Sunday, November 6, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Marquette Masonic Center.
There will be a potluck dinner and sharing of memories will take place at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made directly to Melinda’s family.
