NID Master of Design admissions: apply by November 30 | Master in Design at NID | Admissions NID 2022 | NID Ahmedabad



Applications were invited by the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, for admission to the two-and-a-half-year Master of Design (M.Des) programs in various specializations in Ahmedabad and on the Institute extension campus in Bangalore and Gandhinagar.

The campuses and programs are as follows:

Ahmedabad: animation film design, ceramic and glass design, furniture and interior design, film and video communication, graphic design, product design, textile design

Gandhinagar: clothing design, lifestyle accessories design, strategic design management, new media design, photography design, toy and game design, transportation and automobile design

Bangalore: design for retail experience, digital game design, information design, interaction design, universal design

Eligibility: Applicant must be born on or after 1.7.1992. However, those belonging to the OBC-NCL, SC & ST categories, born on or after July 1, 1989, and the PwD category born on or after July 1, 1987 are also eligible.

The candidate must have at least one of the following minimum qualifications obtained after the 12th standard.

Baccalaureate of at least 4 years in any specialization by May / June 2022
Baccalaureate for a minimum of 3 years in any specialization by August 2021.
Full-time degree with a minimum duration of 4 years in Design / Fine Arts / Applied Arts / Architecture no later than May / June 2022.

Selection: Selection will be based on design aptitude tests (DAT) to be performed in two stages: DAT Prelims and DAT Mains /. DAT (preliminary) will take place on 2.1.2022 (Sunday) in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Goa, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Kurukshetra, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna , Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, Thiruvananthapuram and Vijayawada.

It will be 100 points and will include a common design aptitude test and a faculty-specific area test, with a mix of objective and subjective type questions. Based on DAT scores (Prelims), applicants will be shortlisted for the main DAT. Details are available in the manual.

Application: Applications can be submitted online at no later than 11/30/2021 (Tuesday) at 4:00 p.m. You can apply to a maximum of two disciplines.

The application fee is Rs.3000 / – (Rs.1500 / – for SC / ST / PwD) to apply for one specialization and Rs.6000 / – / Rs.3000 / – to apply for 2 specializations, which can be paid online. After this time, the request can be submitted no later than 4 p.m. on 5.12.2021 (Sunday), subject to payment of the late fee. The total fees payable during this period will be Rs.6000 / – / Rs.3000 / – or Rs.12000 / – / Rs.6000 / – respectively.
