South Essex College: new college fashion business course


SOUTH Essex College is launching a new fashion course to prepare students to enter the exciting world of online retail and shopping.

The Level 3 Fashion and Retail Business Diploma, taught at the college’s Southend campus, will equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to work in the industry.

Currently, there are 555,000 people employed in fashion, textiles and retail in the UK. This course could lead to careers such as fashion buyer, range planner, fashion management, fashion marketing, and visual merchandising.

Accredited by the University of the Arts, London, course units include Fashion Production and Supply Chain, Fashion Buying and Merchandising, and Management and Marketing.

Megan Brophy, Design and Fine Arts Program Manager, said, “We are really excited to be offering the new course. Students will learn about areas of the fashion industry, including marketing, production, merchandising, and buying, as well as exploring cutting-edge trends within the industry, such as sustainability and the future of fashion.

“On successful completion of the course, students will be able to progress to further education such as the BA (Hons) Creative Media & Promotion at the University Center South Essex or to employment in roles such as fashion buyer, fashion marketer or visual merchandiser. ”
