The son of a farmer riddled with debts wants to create jobs in the village | Lucknow News



Lucknow: In the grip of a serious financial crisis for several years, the family of Shivanand Singh, a farmer from Lucknow, finally have a reason to celebrate.
Their son Vinay Singh, a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) student at Lucknow University, was named the recipient of the Chancellor’s Bronze Medal.
The medal will be presented to Vinay during the graduation ceremony of the LU on November 26.
“This is not just a medal for me, but hope and motivation for my whole family, which has been suffering from the financial crisis for a long time now,” said Vinay, while recalling how his father was heavily in debt due to crop losses and couldn’t even sell the only piece of land they owned.
“The Covid-19 pandemic has added more challenges to our lives, but we haven’t given up. My dad took out another Kisan credit card loan so that my studies could continue, ”Vinay said.
“I am going to work harder and go to the textile industry so that I can earn not only to clear my parents’ debts, but also to one day create my own textile company which will be able to provide work for the inhabitants of rural areas”, a- he declared.
While Vinay dreams of seizing employment opportunities in rural India, his peers, who have also been named medalists, are keen to open schools and colleges in rural India.
Suhani Kanyal of Isabella Thoburn (IT) College and LU, Disha Mishra and Sharadha Pandey want to empower women in rural India by providing the best educational opportunities available in UP villages.
Likewise, Kuldeep Kumar Patel wants to become a teacher and provide education to underprivileged children.
Other bronze medalists, Puneet Deshwal and Priyamvada Shukla, aspire to careers in the legal field and fight for the rights of disadvantaged people by becoming a lawyer.
